Many articles say various amounts of bright colors are the way to go this Winter. But you will also find many saying that monochromatic is the way to go instead. There’s no wrong answer; it’s dependent on what you like most. But the good news is that no matter what you prefer, according to Vogue, you’ll still look dashing either way.

In this post, I’ll be focused on neutral colors. There are many things I could say regarding this topic, but I guess I’ll start with this. I’m a sucker for this style; and I have been for about four years. With sand, camel, and buff being just a few examples of different shades — the opportunities are perpetual, as it’s an endless option for anyone’s wardrobe.

From a streetwear stylist’s point of view, I’ll be sharing the top neutral toned necessities you’ll be needing this winter; also while leaving all the links for you below. If you’re still reading this, I’m sure you’re ready for me to just tell you about it already. So without further ado, let’s get it!

Tan leather trench coat

Olivia Culpo in the streets of Milan, Italy 2020

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. I’ve been into trench coats for a very long time, but faux leather ones have never crossed my mind till this year. There many things I could say I love about this look. Like how bold the color and texture are, or how it’s a classic and understated option for chilly weather, or how you can style it in many different ways, including as a dress if you include the belt.

To the left, Olivia Culpo gives us a breathtaking look in an all neutral colored outfit in one of the worlds largest fashion capitals; Milan, Italy. This outfit is calling me.

Gorgeous tan croc faux leather trench coat from Missguided — $54
TOFFEE FAUX LEATHER OVERSIZED DAD BLAZER — $68
Boohoo faux leather trench coat — $75

Brown leather boots

Copenhagen Fashion Week 2020

I can’t get over this outfit on the left. All of the different tones and textures going on, everything comes together so effortlessly… and that purse. I don’t even use purses, but I would wear this whole outfit in a heartbeat.

Anyways, the boots are what we’re supposed to be looking at here. I spoke about chunky welly boots in my last post as they’re a huge item on our trends list for Winter. This pair specifically are dark brown & flat, and overall they go very well with her brown leather trousers. Heeled or flat, Chelsea boot or thigh thighs, this all comes down to what you favor. Just remember, leather over suede this season!

ASOS Reunion premium leather platform boots in brown — $127
ASOS Claudia knee high boots in tan — $64

Wide leg trousers

A great way to discover something new is by mixing and matching different styles. When you take the items spoken about above and add some wide-legged trousers to the mix, you do just that. Take the bold step to add a punky spin to a classy look by tucking trousers into some combat or cowboy boots. From all of the research done on trends this Winter, this is by far one of the most popular ones happening this season. Got to love it.

Wide-legged trousers can be found in various places, including your local thrift shop. I’ll still add some options below!

ASOS slouchy dad wide-leg suit pants— $56
ZARA FLOWY WIDE LEG PANTS — $50
Camel high waisted wide leg pants — $87

Leather trousers

I could’ve just added a picture of Ross Geller in his leather pants and ended this section at that! But on the left is also a great example of how leather trousers are a high priority item to be added to your wardrobe asap. Pairing these beauties with a wool trench coat will make them pop even more (also seen above in the leather boots trend section.) You might be thinking that leather pants might break the bank, but I promise there are plenty of affordable options.

Leather effect straight trouser — $42
CAMEL CROC FAUX LEATHER WIDE LEG PANTS — $55
Cream Off White Vegan Leather Trouser Leggings — $44

Oversized Turtlenecks

Ahh, another classic garment that’s a big deal in 2020. The turtleneck. Tight fitted or baggy, you may be asking. Many fashion articles, including me, will agree that the baggy look is the way to go. Because of how comfortable and freeing they are to wear — no wonder they are still a big deal!

These babies have stuck around over the past couple of seasons, mostly because anyone can pull them off. You can style them with trench coats, varsity jackets, puffer coats, etc. Because of how universal they are, you can mix and match them to whichever style suits you most.

Missguided camel boyfriend roll neck knitted sweater — $15
UO Mia Turtleneck Cropped Sweater — $64
Shein cable Knit Turtleneck Drop Shoulder Sweater — $26

To sum up…

The examples I’ve submitted above are only a small percentage of what you should be expecting to see a lot of in the next couple of months. I was sticking strictly to beige colors in this post, but another thing that you may want to consider adding to these looks is some blue. Wearing all neutral colors, then adding a splash of blue to the fit with a handbag is something you should look forward to seeing this Winter.

I mentioned before how vibrant, colorful looks were another 2020 F/W fashion look. All red & flamboyant leather are just a couple of examples I can give off the top of my head. Many many more examples to come — See you next time!
