Upcoming & Affordable Female Streetwear Trends for 2021
It’s no mystery that this year has been one of the most silent years for the fashion world. While everyone has been at home, for the most part, there have been plenty of people who did everything they could to keep the fashion community alive online. With the various bold outfits we saw this year over the web, most trends were more neutral than anything. I and many others agree that a flamboyant year is precisely what we all need after making it through 2020. And that is what we’ll be seeing entirely in 2021.
After observing the numerous amounts of fashion blogs and official articles online, I decided to put all of the trends that were consistent throughout all of the sources here for you. Let’s get into it.
Oversized shoulder-pad blazers
If you’ve been a fan of the latest oversized trends happening in 2020, then you’re going to love this one for the new year. Blazers have been in for a few seasons now. As this trend has been going on, designers have been trying to come up with new and creative ways to wear it. I can at least speak for the upcoming spring and summer seasons when I say don’t be afraid to play with shapes in your long-lined silhouette. According to many fashion resources, it’s a hit.
You can find oversized blazers everywhere online, but since I’m a fan of thrifting, I highly suggest checking your local thrift shop before making a purchase online. I’ll still leave a few options to look at below!
Get your pastel on.
I’m a tomboy at heart, so pastel colors have never struck me as something I would consider wearing until just recently. You will never see me wear pastel pink (I refuse to wear anything pink lol), but I may consider a pastel green or blue pantsuit. While I do love a good blazer, there are still a lot more garment options to choose from with these soft colors. Bodysuits, jumpsuits, leather pants, trench coats, and many others are all a part of this momentary fad we’ll be seeing over the next few months.
Show off the bra tops.
Fashion week this year has had a ripple effect with bras all around the globe. Milan and London fashion week showed many designers including these tops on a vast amount of models. When searching for the following trends for 2021, you will come to find that Vogue, Fashion Magazine, Elle, Refinery29, and many other styling resources will point out this look. It’s no wonder why. These looks establish female empowerment for days. Pair any of these bras with the right pair of boyfriend jeans and your favorite oversized coat or jacket & you’ve got specialized Vogue Runway attire.
Head-to-Toe Print
Whether you’re into floral, bohemian, checkered, stripes, polka dots, tiger, zebra, cow, or any other chaotic prints, this upcoming season is for you! As I said in the first paragraph of this article, colors are IN. Other articles on the web are all over the place with what they mean by all overprints. But by the hours of research I did, it means mixing and NOT matching all kinds of different prints or sticking to just one from head to toe. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with cow print and have been wanting to add some to my wardrobe. I’ll leave some options below.
French model Clara Berry does a fantastic job of applying this energetic style day to day on Instagram — I highly suggest following her to keep up with the latest European trends. @clara.berry
What’s your NET worth?
I could add some fishing puns into this section, but I’ll spare you the tragedy! Like I spoke about in my last post, adding some punk energy to a classy silhouette was the way to go in Fall and Winter 2020. But designers have decided to add this twist to the runway. Welcome the newest eye-candy to Spring of 2021. These geometric shapes are perfect for the upcoming warm weather approaching us as it has no means of being bulky and never overheating you.
In closing…
As you see, there is so much to look forward to this Spring in female streetwear. I mentioned in my other blog posts that I’m more of a neutral person when it comes to how I dress because I had always considered vibrant colors to be too much. But you might see me starting to wear more colors very soon!
Since I’ve always been into male fashion, I’m going to dedicate my next blog post to men’s streetwear. I want to make sure I don’t leave any women out that feel the same way. Some may agree or disagree but, I know myself and others love adding a touch or even a bunch of menswear to their outfits. See you in the next post!
